BUCKS AND SUNDOGS OPEN SERIES TONIGHT
The Laredo Bucks host the Arizona Sundogs tonight in game one of their best of seven Southern Conference Final series. Laredo has been off for nine days and the Sundogs have been recouping since last Monday (their game six win versus New Mexico). The Bucks have played in six straight conference finals and has been to the CHL finals in each of the last four seasons winning twice.
Arizona finished the regular season as the hottest team in the CHL winning each of their last nine games. They defeated New Mexico four games to two games in the Southern Conference semifinals. Cory Urquhart has scored a goal in each of the first six games in the post-season and has a 16-game goal scoring streak dating back to the regular season. The CHL's leading scorer during the regular season, Alex Leavitt, has 16 points (3-13=16) leading all skaters in the post-season. Goaltender Rob McVicar has won 10 straight decisions dating back to the regular season.
Laredo made quick work of the Odessa Jackalopes in the conference semifinals sweeping them in four games. Chris Stanley and Adam Rivet have each scored eight points in the playoffs and CHL Most Valuable Player Jeff Bes has two goals and five assists in the playoffs.
During the regular season, the Sundogs shutout the Bucks in their first meeting but then lost by a goal in each of the next three meetings (two of those losses in a shootout).

EAGLES IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEADING TO TEXAS
The Colorado Eagles have two days to recover and focus on making quick work of the Texas Brahmas in the Northern Conference Finals leading two games to none. Both wins came in front of sellout crowds at the Budweiser Events Center over the weekend and both featured dominant defensive efforts and great goaltending with Sebastien Laplante allowing just one power play goal in the 120 minutes of the series.
The Eagles got two goals from Scott Polaski on Friday night in their 4-1 win and then played through 48 minutes of scoreless hockey on Sunday before breaking through with third period goals from Polaski and Ed McGrane earning the 2-0 victory.
Laplante's 35-save shutout on Sunday tied the CHL record for the most shutouts in a single playoff season tying the record set four times including last year by Colorado's Tim Boron.
