Shawn Evans Signs Two-Year Contract with Ohio Machine

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio Machine have signed attackman Shawn Evans to a two-year contract through 2020, the team announced today.

Evans was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the sixth round of the 2017 Supplemental Draft and scored nine goals, dished out five assists, and picked up eight ground balls in just four games in the 2017 season. Last season, Evans played three games for the Denver Outlaws, recording five goals and six assists before being added by the Machine late in the season. Besides the MLL, Evans has played in 161 NLL games, totaling 212 regular season games, 402 goals and 692 assists. In 2013, Evans was named NLL MVP. Evans also hold the league record for assists in a season with 83. On the world stage, he helped Team Canada to gold medals at the 2011 and 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, receiving MVP honors in 2015. In his one season at Bellarmine in 2005, Evans scored 52 goals and 75 points, ranking second in program history.

"We're excited to add somebody of Sean's caliber to our attack up front," Machine Head Coach and General Manager Bear Davis said. "Shawn has dominated the indoor game for a number of years, and his strong veteran presence will mesh well with the young core of players that we have. We're really looking forward to having him on the field in 2019."
