Shaun Fountain named CBA Newcomer of the Year
March 30, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
ALBANY, NY (March 30 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced that Indiana Alleycat point guard Shaun Fountain was named the 2006-07 CBA Newcomer of the Year, as voted on by the eight CBA head coaches.
Fountain, a 2001 graduate from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, distinguished himself as the Alley Cats' top statistical powerhouse. He finished the season as the league's leading scorer, with 23.0 points per contest; he also led the CBA in steals (2.5 spg); only Galen Young surpassed Fountain's 5.9 assists per game this season.
A member of the 2007 American Conference CBA All-Star Team, Fountain had two season-high games of 8 steals, on December 10th and December 31st. He was also named Player of the Week on March 5th, 2007, averaging 33.3 points that week.
Besides suiting up for the IBL's Dayton Jets and Columbus Cyclones, as well as the WBA's Rome Gladiators, Fountain played for the Alley Cats when that team was previously in the American Basketball Association. When that franchise chose to join the CBA, Fountain remained a member of the team.
The CBA Newcomer of the Year award is given to an exemplary first-year CBA player with prior professional experience.
