
Sharks Add Three Coaches to Staff

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday the team's 2016 coaching staff. Joining Head Coach, Les Moss, who returns for his seventh season with the franchise, will be Offensive Coordinator Raymond Philyaw, Lineman/Linebackers Coach Mike Grissom and Assistant Coach/Head Equipment Manager Erik Gibson.
Philyaw most recently served as offensive coordinator for the San Antonio Talons and was the O.C. with the New Orleans Voodoo. Philyaw as a player, left a 10 year legacy in the AFL serving the league as one of the best all-time quarterbacks and playing for four different franchises, including the Cleveland Gladiators, where he led the team to the National Conference Championship. In 2010, Philyaw completed his playing career an impressive player with 26,552 passing yards, 65.6% completion percentage, 507 touchdowns with only 59 interceptions. Prior to his time spent in the AFL, Philyaw played for the Winniepeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League and the Madison Mad Dogs of the Indoor Football League.
Mike Grissom, comes to the Sharks after coaching for Edward Waters College where he was the Tigers Linebackers Coach. Prior to his two years with EWC, Mike Grissom was the Assistant Defensive Coach at Bolles High School from 2005-2012. As a proven leader, Grissom spent his his collegiate career at UCF where he played all four years for the Knights at nose guard and was team captain.
Erik Gibson, a Middleburg, FL native, joins the Sharks as Assistant Coach / Head Equipment Manager. Gibson played tight end for five franchises in the af2 League including the Jacksonville Tomcats. Gibson played under legendary coaches Perry Moss, Mike Neu and Bret Munsey.
In addition, the Sharks have hired Video Coordinator of Football Operations, Brian Campbell.
