When retirees fly to Florida in the winter they are called snowbirds. When professional lacrosse players make a similar trip this June, they will be called All-Stars.

With the opening of fan voting today for the 2012 MLL All-Star Game, Hamilton Nationals fans now have the opportunity to send their favorite players to the prestigious event. Fans have until Thursday, June 12th to select players for the All-Star Game, presented by Moe's Southwest Grill.

Hamilton has 12 players on the ballot, including Casey Powell, Joe Walters, Brodie Merrill, Cody Jamieson, Brett Queener, Scott Rodgers, Steven Waldeck, Matt Dolente, Geoff Snider, David Earl, Kevin Crowley and Kyle Rubisch. Fans can also submit write-in votes. Go to www.majorleaguelacrosse.com to fill out the official ballot.

The MLL All-Star Game will be held on Saturday, June 30th at FAU Stadium in Palm Beach County, Fla. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. and will air live on ESPN2. The MLL All-Star Game boasts the top lacrosse talent in the world and has become the league's marquee event since its inception in 2001. This weekend, the Nationals (0-1) travel to play the Boston Cannons at Harvard Stadium on Saturday, May 12th at 7:00 p.m. The rematch of the 2011 MLL Finals will be carried live on ESPN3. In the championship game, the Nationals fell one goal short to the Cannons, 10-9.

Hamilton makes its home debut on Friday, May 18th with an 11:00 a.m. contest against the Chesapeake Bayhawks at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University.
