Published on March 8, 2006 under Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release
The Great Lakes Indoor Football League is excited to announce the second article by ESPN.com Page 2 columnist Ted Kluck is published and online. Kluck is a member of the Crunch roster, and will play as a backup running back, backup linebacker, and likely the starting long-snapper for the team. The article, entitled "A Day in Mini-Camp," goes into his experience at Battle Creek's pre-season mini-camp, and can be found at http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=kluck/060307. His first article, entitled "All it Takes is $50 and a Dream," delved into the Crunch's December 3 Open Tryout, and can be found at http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=kluck/051214.
Kluck's involvement with the Crunch and the GLIFL is a part of the league's on-going goal of providing exposure to its professional athletes. "We are first and foremost a developmental league," noted GLIFL co-founder Jeff Spitaleri. "Ted's work on ESPN.com for Page 2 only helps that goal, by bringing our players to the front of the sporting world. If we can get even one more scout to our games because of Ted's work, it was well worth it."
In addition to his ESPN.com work, Kluck is currently finishing his first book, "Facing Tyson," to be published by the Lyons Press. Everything he collects as a member of the Battle Creek Crunch in 2006 may also be used in a future book project with the Lyons Press. Ted has also been featured in ESPN the Magazine, Cigar Magazine, Cyberboxingzone.com, and Sports Spectrum Magazine, where his column "Pro and Con" won him an Evangelical Press award in 2002.
The Great Lakes Indoor Football League is based in Canton, Ohio, and will kick off its inaugural season on April 7 with two games. Kluck's Battle Creek Crunch will host the Port Huron Pirates in the first GLIFL Game of the Week, while the NY/NJ Revolution will travel to the Rochester Raiders. The Marion Mayhem close out the league's opening week with an April 8 home game against the Lehigh Valley Outlawz.
