Austin Aztex News Release

FRISCO, Texas (www.austinaztex.com) -- An offensive surge culminating in the Austin Aztex first score of the mach and a host of opportunities on net were not enough to quell FC Dallas' attack on Wednesday in Frisco, Texas, as the Aztex dropped the preseason scrimmage, 4-1.

FC Dallas of the MLS score in the first half after a pass ahead of the Aztex defense that the referee judged to be just enough onside to continue play. Austin could not muster much offense in the opening frame and went into the locker room down 1-0.

Trialist Wolry Wolfe then came out firing and put the ball past the keeper on his first opportunity in the second half on an assist by newly acquired Lance Watson to tie the match at one. Dallas quickly answered the Aztex just minutes later after a costly turnover by the defense and never looked back after going up 2-1.

A late push by the Aztex though nearly tied the match multiple times before the closing whistle was blown. The attack mounted by Austin led to a shot that clanged off the crossbar and a goal that was taken off the board after being called narrowly offside on the play.

Two more FC Dallas goals led to the final score of 4-1.

Wednesday's preseason scrimmage was the last tune-up for the Aztex before opening the season at its new home, House Park, on April 11.
