Seattle Seawolves News Release
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON - The Seattle Seawolves have signed former San Diego Legion utility back and USA sevens and XVs Eagle, Tai Enosa, through 2022. Enosa signs with his second Major League Rugby (MLR) Club in Seattle after spending the 2019 season with San Diego.
"We're excited to add someone as experienced as Tai to our roster," said Seawolves director of rugby and head coach Allen Clarke. "He understands the game, moves well, and will complement our attacking philosophy for the rest of the 2022 season. We welcome Tai and his family to the Seawolves."
Originally from America Samoa, where he grew up in Lotopa, Enosa's family eventually made the move to California. He continued to play rugby here in the States, and became a Club rugby stalwart with Belmont Shore, Oceanside Chiefs, and San Francisco Golden Gate. His US National Team career began in 2009 when he was selected to the IRB Junior World Trophy U20's squad and debuted for the Senior National Team in sevens that same year. Enosa competed on the sevens circuit through 2013 and represented the US in fifteens as well, including the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Enosa signed with the San Diego Legion in 2019 and played 14 matches for them, including the 2019 MLR Championship Final against his new Club. The 5'9, 200 lb. playmaking back adds depth in key roles of the Seawolves backline as he brings his step, smart decision making, and strong communication to Seattle.
"I came to check it out the Club at the beginning of season and the team made me feel welcome," said Enosa. "It felt like family with good vibes and a good culture I hope to add to."
The Seawolves are set to face the only other championship-winning Club in MLR history in the Los Angeles Giltinis in Week 8 of the regular season on Saturday, March 26. Kick off will be at 3:00 PM PT at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. The match will be broadcast regionally on ROOT Sports and streamed online on The Rugby Network. Match tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
