
Season-high rushing total earns Jackson prize

RHEIN Fire running back FREDRICK JACKSON (Buffalo Bills) has been named Offensive Player of NFL Europe Week 10 after gaining a league season-high 154 yards on 22 carries on Saturday night.
Jackson helped the Fire to a season-ending 21-10 defeat of the Cologne Centurions by scoring on an 80-yard touchdown run - the third longest rush in NFL Europe League history. He also caught a 2-yard pass.
Jackson ended the season ranked second in the league with 731 yards and 2 touchdowns on 157 attempts. He added 317 receiving yards to become one of just two men to top 1,000 offensive yards this season, gaining 1,048 yards.
Hamburg Sea Devils safety JASON SHIVERS (New York Giants) was named Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts while leading his club to a third consecutive victory, this one coming by way of a 34-21 scoreline against the World Bowl-bound Amsterdam Admirals.
Shivers recorded 5 tackles, knocked down 3 passes and returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown. He ended the season ranked second on Hamburg's defense with 48 tackles, 5 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.
Rhein Fire punter TRAVIS DORSCH (New York Giants) earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors after averaging 44.7 yards on 6 punts, placing 2 inside the 20-yard line with a long of 60 yards.
Dorsch ended the 2006 campaign ranking fifth among NFLEL punters, averaging 38.4 yards on a league-high 50 punts, placing 12 kicks inside the 20-yard line.
French linebacker PHILIPPE GARDENT won his second Player of the Week honor in 2006 by being named Special Teams Player of Week 10. He was also named Defensive Player of Week 1.
Gardent recorded a team-high 10 tackles during the Cologne Centurions' 21-10 loss to the Rhein Fire.
Those stops took Gardent's tally for the season to 70, which saw him end the year as the leading tackler in the NFL Europe League.
