San Diego Seals News Release

The San Diego Seals were victorious on Saturday night in Fort Worth, clinching their franchise-record sixth straight win to secure the season series over Panther City. After a dominating second half, the Seals won by a final score of 10-4.

"It was a hard-fought game," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "They're a team that works extremely hard and we knew that going into tonight. We had some great goaltending out of Frankie [Scigliano] all night. When we were able play our style of game, play five on five, we were able to wear them down in the second half and that was the difference in the game."

For the second time this season, goaltender Frank Scigliano and the Seals defense held the opponent to only four goals in the contest. For the second straight game, the Seals allowed only one second half goal. Forward Wesley Berg led the Seals offense with three goals and six points.

"Wes has been putting together an amazing season, to put it shortly," continued Merrill. "He's been an amazing leader both on and off the floor which has been a huge key. He scores timely goals for us when we need them and we're happy to see him succeed like he has been so far."

San Diego will have a week off before facing Albany at home on Saturday, February 26. This will be the first matchup with an East Division opponent and the first game of a four-game home stand. The Seals currently boast a 6-1 record, good for first in the West Division, and hope to keep the hot streak alive.

"We feel like we haven't responded well coming off of bye weeks," continued Merrill. "That's going to be a big focus coming out of the week off. This is our last bye week, and we need to rest up, get healthy and get focused. We've got a lot of guys banged up this week, this extra week off will prepare us down the stretch."
