San Diego Seals News Release
It was San Diego from start to finish as the Seals dominated the Rochester Knighthawks, 19-6, on Saturday night at Pechanga Arena to secure the team's third straight win.
"Our offense was finally clicking," said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. "I think it was the first time all season where we had all seven guys really feeling it tonight. It took a lot of pressure off our defense and Frankie, but I think our defense and goaltending was really solid as well. It was a great 60-minute effort and it feels nice to get to .500, especially here at home. Hopefully we can go on a bit of a run. We're going to need to to get into the playoffs."
Forward Casey Jackson recorded his third five-goal performance of the season and led the offense to a franchise-high 19 goals. Forwards Connor Fields and Zack Greer both finished with three goals, while Wesley Berg and Kyle Buchanan each notched two goals and six assists.
"It feels good to be back," said Jackson. "I was nervous the first couple games to get my swing back. I didn't have a training camp or anything, I basically had one practice. I'm starting to get back into the feel of things. It feels pretty good, especially when you win."
For the second-straight week, the Seals power play was successful on all attempts. San Diego's offense added two shorthanded goals from Wesley Berg and Jeremy Noble, while defenseman Matt Sykes netted his first career goal.
The Seals defense and goaltending held the opponents to just one second-half goal to secure the win after a dominant first half. In his first start since February 14, goaltender Frank Scigliano earned the win stopping 25 shots on the night.
The Seals will head to Vancouver next week for the third and final matchup with the Warriors before returning home on Friday, March 20 to face the New England Black Wolves. Reserve your seats today at SealsLax.com.
