San Diego Loyal News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - San Diego Loyal SC continued its lengthy road trip with a 2-2 draw against shorthanded Indy Eleven Saturday night at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. Charlie Adams converted a penalty kick in the first half and Evan Conway found the net in the second period, but the homeside came-from-behind to tie the match with a pair of penalty kicks by Aodhan Quinn.

The draw gave SD Loyal a point in the USL Championship standings as it navigates through a four-match road stretch that continues next week when the club visits Hartford Athletic on Saturday, July 8 (4 p.m. PT). The road warriors will finish the road series at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday, July 14 (6 p.m. PT).

Saturday against Indy Eleven, SD Loyal took a 1-0 lead after Adams converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute. Tumi Moshobane was taken down in the box after receiving a Nick Moon pass. Adams sent in a low rolling shot from the spot and into the lower right corner. Adams converted the penalty kick for his first goal of the season and eighth All-Time with SD Loyal. The opening score of the interconference match came when SD Loyal was dominating possession and controlling the match.

Conway extended the visitor's lead in the 54th minute when he tapped in a left-footed shot to beat Indy goalkeeper Yannik Oetti for his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Moshobane set up the goal with a quick pass into the penalty area, connecting with Conway to finish the scoring play. It was Moshobane's third assist of 2023.

Indy Eleven, who finished with ten men after Gustavo Rissi was shown a red card for a tackle on Adrien Perez in the 58th minute, began to chip away at the SD Loyal lead as the second half continued.

The Indy comeback began when SD Loyal was whistled for a penalty in the 65th minute on a foul by Kyle Adams in the penalty area. Quinn converted the penalty attempt to cut the SD Loyal lead to 2-1.

The homeside would equalize when it caught another break in the 81st minute. This time, SD Loyal defender Elijah Martin was whistled in the box. Quinn converted his second penalty kick of the night to tie the match 2-2.

Head Coach Nate Miller's squad will now focus on Hartford Athletic in its third-straight road match next week. The club returns to Torero Stadium on Sunday, July 30 (3 p.m. PT) to host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Tickets to the match are on sale at sdloyal.com/tickets.
