Traverse City North Stars News Release

TRAVERSE CITY - Kyle Schempp is like any other North American Hockey League player in that he'd love to have the opportunity to play the sport he loves professionally. Now, the world's top professional hockey league is taking note of him.

Schempp was among 11 NAHL players cited on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's annual draft watchlist. The preliminary listing is comprised of players who have been identified by NHL Central Scouting as potential selections in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.

Schempp, who played midget major with Compuware last year before coming to Traverse City, has appeared in all 12 games this season. The 6-1, 175-lb. Saginaw product has a pair of goals and three assists, and his one-goal, four-assist outing on Sept. 28 against Port Huron helped key a 5-2 victory.

Players from the NAHL on the list include: Wichita Falls Wildcats forwards Dennis Kravchenko and Adam Wilcox, Corpus Christi IceRays defenseman Christopher Taff and goaltender Anthony Stolarz, who was featured on The Hockey News NHL Hot List last month after his performance at the NAHL Showcase.

The list also features Dawson Creek Rage defenseman Luke Ripley, Aberdeen Wings forward Cory Ward, Coulee Region Chill forward Jakob Batcha, Michigan Warriors defenseman Derek O'Flynn, Alexandria Blizzard goaltender Jameson Shortreed, and Alaska Avalanche defenseman Chris Buchanan.

NHL Central Scouting will release its midseason rankings of 2012 draft-eligibles in January, followed by its final rankings in April.
