Savannah Steel News Release
SAVANNAH, G.A. - For more than a month, the Savannah Steel searched for answers. Facing constant roster shifts, personnel changes, and the inherent unpredictability of an inaugural campaign, the road proved unforgiving. However, true character reveals itself in adversity.
After mounting a furious 26-point second-half comeback that fell just short on Friday in a 72-68 loss to the Greensboro Groove, head coach Toccara Ross and the Steel refused to let fatigue or frustration define them. On Saturday afternoon, Savannah rewrote the narrative, holding off a late Greensboro rally to secure a thrilling 74-72 victory.
The victory showcased the depth and resilience this group has cultivated. Alisia Jenkins set the tone on both ends with a team-high 21 points, while Lasha Petree added 16 points and Zee Spearman chipped in 12. Point guard JJ Quinerly delivered an all-around performance with 10 points, three assists, and six clutch steals. Beyond the starting lineup, Savannah's bench provided a massive 25-2 scoring advantage, alongside a dominant 28-18 margin in the paint. Snapping a 13-game losing skid on the road was more than just adding a tally to the win column; it served as concrete proof that the Steel's fight remains fully intact heading into the season's final stretch.

Preview & Keys to the Matchups
Charlotte Crown
The Steel open their final homestand on Friday night against the Charlotte Crown. Charlotte brings a fast-paced offensive attack that tests defense early in the shot clock.
- Keys to the Matchup:
¡ł Pact in the Paint: Savannah must capitalize on interior scoring, mirroring their 28-18 dominance in the paint from Saturday's win.
¡ł Bench Impact: Continuing to get major production from the second unit will be vital in keeping fresh legs during a heavy week of games.
¡ł Limiting Second-Chance Points: Controlling the defensive glass will prevent Charlotte from getting extra possessions and momentum runs.
Jacksonville Waves
Savannah will meet the Waves three times over the five-day span, starting on the road before finishing the season with back-to-back games at Enmarket Arena. The Steel have yet to defeat Jacksonville this season and will be highly motivated to break that spell and end the year with a statement victory against their division rival.
- Keys to the Matchup:
¡ł Disrupting the Backcourt: Savannah's defense, anchored by pressure from guards like JJ Quinerly, must force turnovers and generate easy transition opportunities.
¡ł Free Throw Precision: In close games, converting from the line is critical; building on Saturday's 14-of-19 free-throw performance will keep Savannah in control late.
¡ł Sustaining 40-Minute Energy: With three matchups against the same opponent in under a week, maintaining composure and physical stamina through the fourth quarter will determine the outcome.
