Des Moines led twice, but could not hold on as Sioux Falls came away with a 4-3 overtime road win Saturday night.
Andrew Clarke gave the host Buccaneers a 1-0 lead at 2:15 of the first and a power play marker from Jack Kernan at 13:36 of the second made it 2-0. Sioux Falls forward Jake Toll got his first goal as a USHLer when he scored late in the period, cutting the deficit to one.
Jaksen Panzer's first goal of the season at 1:30 of the third evened things up, but the Bucs regained the lead two minutes later on a Lubomir Kupco goal. Alexander Rybakov, who scored once in 42 games with the Stampede last year, got his first goal of the season at 14:41 to send the game into overtime.
J.J. Wiebusch made a toe drag to the middle of the ice before snapping a shot past Jonathan Reinholdt for the game-winner at 1:54 of the extra session. Wiebusch and Panzer both finished with two points in the game for the Stampede, as each had a goal and an assist in the win.
