San Jose Stealth GM Johnny Mouradian Wins General Manager of the Year Award

Published on April 30, 2004 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

San Jose Stealth General Manager and Head Coach Johnny Mouradian was named the General Manager of the Year for the 2003-04 season, the National Lacrosse League announced earlier today. Mouradian received the highest number of votes for the award as voted on by the Governors and General Managers of the league's ten member clubs. The voting for all annual awards took place after the conclusion of the regular season and ended before the start of the Champion's Cup Playoffs.

The St. Catharines, Ontario native succeeded in keeping a talented core of players together as the franchise relocated to San Jose from Albany, New York prior to the start of the season. The newly named San Jose Stealth improved to 11-5 (from 8-8 during the previous season), which included an impressive 7-1 home record at HP Pavilion. San Jose placed second in the West Division and hosted a first round playoff game.

Mouradian has garnered the kind of talent that generates success. Along with an 11-5 mark and a first round home playoff game, the Stealth also earned a number of player awards this season. Defenseman Cam Woods was elected Co-Defensive Player of the Year, forward Josh Sanderson was the league leader in assists, and the club totaled seven individual weekly honors this season. The Stealth also produced three 2004 West Division All-Stars.

No stranger to building winning teams, Mouradian previously served as General Manager of the championship winning Toronto Rock teams of 1999 and 2000, and the championship winning Buffalo Bandits teams of the 1990's (1992, 1993 & 1996).
