San Diego Sockers News Release
SOCKERS SURGE PAST COUGARS 8-4
Kraig Chiles scored the go-ahead goal on a late third quarter power-play and former Cougar Majell Aterado followed with back-to-back goals, as the San Diego Sockers improved to 3-0 in PASL-Pro play with an 8-4 win over the California Cougars at the Del Mar Arena on Saturday, November 27th. A crowd of 1,929 saw Chiles net two goals and an assist to lead all scorers.
GET TO YOUR SEATS, THE SHOW'S ABOUT TO START
The Sockers have made a quick start their habit so far in 2010-2011. San Diego has scored at least three goals in every first quarter they've played so far this year, including four goals in each of their last two games, for a total of 11 goals in 3 opening quarters. Paul Wright has four of his seven points in the first quarter, and Kraig Chiles has three of his five goals, with a first quarter goal in all three games.
(MA)JELLING WITH HIS NEW TEAM
San Diego midfielder Majell Aterado is quickly making his presence felt with his new team. Coming to the Sockers from California in an offseason free agent move, Aterado has already scored three goals in three games, including a pair of goals in November 27th's 8-4 win over the Cougars.
CHILES PUTS SMILES ON SOCKERS FANS' FACES
Kraig Chiles has picked right up where he left off in 2009-2010, leading the way for the Sockers' offense. With goals in every game, Chiles leads San Diego with five goals and three assists for a total of eight points. He is tied for 3rd in the PASL-Pro in goals and fifth in points.
AHEAD: BATTLE WITH THE EAST
For the first time in 2010-2011, the Sockers take on an opponent from the PASL-Pro Eastern Division, as the Louisville Lightning come to the Del Mar Arena on Saturday, December 4th at 6:15pm. This is the second meeting between the two teams, the first coming in the US Open Final, when the Sockers won 11-7 to claim the cup in Louisville, Kentucky. It's Military Appreciation Night, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation will be on hand, collecting new unwrapped toys to distribute to needy children in the area.
