San Antonio, TX. The ABA South Texas Showboats professional basketball team that begins play in December today announced that San Antonio native Arthur C. Anderson has been named Assistant Coach. Anderson attended Sam Houston High School where he was a standout football and baseball player. He joined the U.S. Navy and also attended Cal State Long Beach on a football scholarship and played professionally in international leagues for three years.

During this time, in the off season, he began his coaching career with a semi-pro basketball team, the Frankfort Runners and has also been coaching youth football since 1995. Anderson recently helped found a youth football organization at Sam Houston High School. "I try to stay involved with the youth of our community," he said. "Plus I've been the Assistant Coach or Head Coach for three minor league basketball years and now have six years of coaching experience. I bring with me the love and respect of the game. I believe in discipline, fundamentals, and conditioning and I am looking forward to the opportunity of working with Coach Mireles and the Showboats."
