Salt Lake Dreams return to ABA

October 9, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Salt Lake Dreams will return to the league for the upcoming season that begins in December. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We understand very well that it is a late entry, but we know Kenny Wamsley well, and we know that he is 100% prepared and ready to compete at the highest level. And, from a travel standpoint, it made great sense with Utah bordering Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona, where we have teams. We are now making some adjustments to our schedule. Those of you who remember several years ago Salt Lake had one of the best teams in the league and tremendous community support. We anticipate the same thing happening."

The team's principal owner is 34-year old Kenny Wamsley, who played his high school ball at West Jordan High School, played for Western Wyoming College before playing in Australia and New Zealand. He has a background in broadcasting and currently is Sales Manager of a Portland, Oregon-based company.

"I come from a family of seven children; we have two of our own - and another expected this week," stated Wamsley. We know what it means to work hard, to work smart, and to do things right. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the ABA working with us to make our dreams come true and we will do everything we can to make this one of the best operations in the ABA. Two months is not a long time, but the support I've received already indicates to me that we will have a great success. We did it before; we can do it again."

The team will be playing in the great Salt Lake Community College gym which seats 3000 and "is the perfect ABA venue - fans will love it. And our ticket prices will be fan-friendly, family friendly and affordable," added Wamsley. "Plus we are going to have a lot of local talent on the team, players that fans will recognize and support."

The ABA currently has a team called the Alaska Dream. Salt Lake has changed its name to the Salt Lake Dreams so as not to cause confusion. The new website, www.saltlakedreams.com, is under construction. You can reach the team by emailing kennywamsley@yahoo.com or calling 801 673 9317 or visiting www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
