SaberCats DB Kenny Okoro Signs with NFL's Washington Redskins

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose SaberCats and the Arena Football League announced that defensive back Kenny Okoro has been placed on the other league exempt list, as he signed to the practice squad of the Washington Redskins of the National Football League.

"We are excited for Kenny to take on this new opportunity," said Owner and Head Coach Darren Arbet. "The SaberCats take great pride in growing younger players. We wish Kenny nothing but the best in the NFL."

Okoro (6-1, 190, Wake Forest) appeared in 11 games, starting six, for the SaberCats during his rookie AFL season. For the season, he finished fourth on the team with 60.0 tackles (51 solo) along with eight pass break ups, two-and-a-half tackles for loss and one interception.

Okoro joins former SaberCats wide receiver Fred Williams (Kansas City Chiefs) and fullback Brian Folkerts (Carolina Panthers) in the NFL.
