SaberCats Add Former Kansas State OL Nick Stringer

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The SaberCats today announced the addition of former Kansas State standout offensive lineman, Nick Stringer.

"Nick is a young offensive lineman we are looking forward to getting into camp," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He gives us good size and depth at the position and should come in ready to compete."

Stringer (6-6, 295, Kansas State) most recently spent time in camp for the Hartford Colonials (United Football League) in 2011, before the league folded. He also has had brief stints in camp with the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League.

A lynchpin on the offensive line at Kansas State, Stringer spent time at primarily at tackle in Manhattan. After redshirting in 2005, Stringer appeared in 43 games for the Wildcats from 2006-09 earning First-Team All-Big 12 accolades as a senior and an All-Big 12 honorable mention as a junior in 2008.

A native of Topeka, Kan., Stringer attended Hayden high school, where he was rated as the top offensive lineman in the state of Kansas. He helped lead the Wildcats to the 2004 Class 4A state title, playing both ways, primarily at tight end on offense and defensive end on defense. Stringer caught 22 passes for 348 yards and five touchdowns during his senior season and posted 104 tackles, three sacks and 16 tackles for loss. He was a two-time All-Centennial League and all-city performer during his high school career at offensive lineman, tight end and defensive end.
