Rush Zero in on Record Start

February 11, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Edmonton Rush News Release

The Edmonton Rush can move to within one game of the National Lacrosse League's best-ever beginning to a regular season as they look to continue their undefeated start against the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday night.

Edmonton improved to 6-0 last weekend as they held on to beat the Philadelphia Wings 8-6, and the Rush's two-game road trip moves to St. Paul this weekend. The NLL's most successful regular-season record came in 1993 when the Buffalo Bandits went a perfect 8-0 and then added two wins in the playoffs to finish 10-0 and claim the Champion's Cup.

The Rush boast the league's best defense as they have given up just 45 goals in six games, and goaltender Aaron Bold leads the NLL with a stellar 7.77 goals-against average. Bold, who managed 32 saves against Philadelphia, is also tied for first in goaltender victories with five, and is currently second among starting netminders with a .814 save-percentage.

With their win over Philadelphia, the Rush hold down first overall in the league and boast a three-game lead over Calgary in the West Division standings. Minnesota fell to last in the league after a 15-13 loss to Calgary last Saturday.

Rookies Riley Loewen and Robert Church each scored twice for the Rush against the Wings as did second-year pro Curtis Knight. Chris Corbeil and Jeremy Thompson added singles for the Rush.
