January 12, 2012 - Lone Star Football League (LSFL)
Abilene Ruff Riders News Release

The Abilene Ruff Riders of the Texas Lone Star Football League have added four players to their 2012 roster. Chris Clinton (FB/DL), Anthony Alexander (WR), Joseph Paige (DB), and Greg Yeldell. "What excites me most about these four individuals is the amount of passion they each have for the game of football. They are all extremely talented individuals, each with varying amounts of indoor football experience. These guys love to play football. They are guys that not only live for Saturday nights under the bright lights, but love being around the game of football and attack the practice field, weight room, and film room with the same enthusiasm as they do the game field," commented Coach Brannen.

Chris Clinton returns to the Ruff Riders after spending the 2011 season with the squad. Clinton played his college ball at the University of Maryland. In 2011 he spent most of his time at mack linebacker and defensive line before switching over to fullback for the final 4 games. "Chris really showed how versatile of an athlete he was when he made a position change to fullback for us last year at the tail end of the season. He is an excellent pass blocker at 6'4" 265 pounds, but has extremely good feet and runs the ball well. When he breaks through to open field he is a handful for a lot of defensive backs because of his size and power," says Coach Brannen.

Anthony Alexander joins the Ruff Riders for his first stint in Abilene. Anthony has spent the last two seasons with the North Texas Crunch. In the first game last year he had seven catches, two for touchdowns, against the Ruff Riders here in Abilene. Coach Brannen on Anthony, "He is a very smart receiver. Runs fantastic routes and presents a big target for our quarterback. He gives us flexibility with his athleticism by allowing us to play him at any of our three receiver slots." Anthony is a big receiver at 6'3" 220lbs.

Joseph Paige played his college football at the University of Arizona. He was with the Ruff Riders for 4 games in 2012. "Joe will bring experience and leadership to our secondary. He is athletic enough to play each defensive back spot for us this season. With a few games under his belt from last year, I am excited to see the growth he has made from last year to this year as an arena football player," said Brannen.

Greg Yeldell brings a wealth of indoor football experience to the Ruff Riders, having spent 3 seasons with the organization and multiple years with various arena and indoor football teams. Before beginning his professional career, Yeldell attended Indiana University where he was a two sport standout in both football and track. While at Indiana he set the Big Ten record for interceptions for a freshman. Brannen on Greg Yeldell. "Greg is a guy that plays football the way it is supposed to be played, with all the heart, desire, and passion you can possibly muster up. He is a guy that would pay to play football if it meant he got to play. I can't be more excited than I am to have an athlete and person of his caliber joining our program for the 2012 season."
