Bellingham Slam News Release

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam are set to host their rivals from the south, the Snohomish County Explosion, on Friday in what has already become a spirited and physical rivalry after just two games. The game will be played at Bellingham High School, marking the first time the Slam will play a home game away from their usual venue of Whatcom Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Slam will be playing the Explosion for the third time five games, with the season series tied at one game apiece. The Slam prevailed in the most recent contest, 115-108, on March 22. Guards Jared Stevenson and Ryan Diggs led the way for Bellingham in the game, scoring 23 and 20 points, respectively.

The Explosion have strengthened their roster in time for Friday's game, signing forward Jermaine Blackburn, a Boise State graduate who played last season with the Yakama Sun Kings in the Continental Basketball Association. The Explosion roster will also feature former Washington Husky guard Jamie Booker, who averaged 15 points per game in six games against the Slam last season for the American Basketball Association's King County Royals.

Friday's match-up will start a three game home stand for the Slam, with their next game coming on April 11 against the Portland Chinooks back at their usual home venue of Whatcom Pavilion.
