ROUND ROCK - With its season opener just over a month away, the Triple-A Round Rock Express will open its gates for a sneak peak Saturday, March 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Dell Diamond will be open for live batting practice, shagging fly balls, ballpark tours, concession sampling and a scavenger hunt. Season and single game tickets will be on sale as a vintage baseball game takes place on the field.
The Kid's Zone, along with various inflatables, will also be open to the public. Admission to the event is free.
One lucky fan will be invited to join members of the local media and Round Rock front office in a simulated vintage baseball game on the field of The Dell Diamond during the open house. The Montgomery Saw Dogs, decked out in vintage 1800s baseball garb, will take on an assemblage of local media and Express personnel beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Vintage Baseball Game - (11:00-12:00) Vintage Baseball is traveling to The Dell Diamond on Saturday, March 8 for the Round Rock Express Open House. Vintage Baseball recreates the game as it was played in the 1860s, traveling across the country to educate baseball fans about the greatest game invented. Enter to win a spot on the visiting vintage team that will face the Montgomery Saw Dogs on Saturday at 11:00 am on the field. Just wear a t-shirt, pants and sneakers, and your vintage jersey and game equipment will be provided. The game will run for one hour and rules from the 1800s will be explained upon your arrival. Batting On the Field - (12:00 - 4:00) Fans are invited to take batting practice on the playing surface of The Dell Diamond. Any fan hitting three balls out of the infield will receive a Rookie of the Year certificate. Fans are encouraged to bring their own bats.
Shag Fly Balls In The Outfield - (12:00 - 4:00) As batting practice goes on, fans can roam the outfield and shag fly balls just like the Express does during the season. Fans are encouraged to bring their own gloves.
Canned Food Drive - (All-Day) The Capitol Area Council and the Boy Scouts of America will be collecting food at the home plate entrance as part of the 2008 "Keep Texas Fed" Scouting for Food Drive.
Insure-A-Kid Health Festival - (10:00 - 2:00) The health festival will take place in the United Heritage Center at The Dell Diamond.
Mayor's Council on Fitness Walk - (10:00 - 11:30) More than 200 people are expected to take part in a walk around the ballpark.
The Austin Area Stang Club - (All Day) The Austin Area Stang Club will have cars displayed in the parking lot.
Inflatables - (All Day) Inflatables will be set up on the sidewalk on the east side of the ballpark.
Dog Adoption - (10:00 - 3:00) F.O.G.A.S. will have several puppies and dogs available for adoption outside of the main entrance to the ballpark. F.O.G.A.S. was founded in Gonzales and operate in the Austin area. The group takes dogs from shelters and sometimes off the street and places them in homes. All of their animals are spayed and neutered and current on vaccinations before placement.
Scavenger Hunt - (All Day) Fans may take a self-guided tour and complete several tasks for a chance to win a pair of season tickets.
Clubhouse Self-Guided Tour - (All Day) The Home Clubhouse will be open for public viewing
Kids Zone Playscape - (Available All Day)
Kid's Club Sign Up - (All Day) Kids can sign up to be a member of the Round Rock Express Kid's Club.
Concessions - (All Day) Fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and sodas all day.
