
Ross, Tribue Named to All-Arena Team

PHILADELPHIA (August 14, 2014) - The Arena Football League announced the defensive players named to the 2014 All-Arena team. Philadelphia Soul FB Derrick Ross (6'0, 260, Tarleton) was named to the First Team All-Arena and OL Wayne Tribue (6'3, 330, Temple) was named to the Second Team All-Arena squad.
"Derrick and Wayne both had outstanding seasons," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "Derrick really put the time in during the offseason to improve his game as a blocker, while Wayne adjusted to the Arena game very quickly and took it to another level. We are very happy to see them get the recognition they deserved."
The Russell Athletic Of fensive Player candidate, Ross has been a force throughout the entire season and became the all-time leading rusher in AFL history. He now holds the League record of 141 rushing touchdowns in a career. He led the league in rushing yards (487) and was No. 1 in rushing touchdowns (36). He also added 20 reception for 198 yards and four receiving touchdowns. Ross recorded single-game rushing record of six touchdowns in Week 1 against the Arizona Rattlers. He became the first player in AFL history with 2,000 rushing yards in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Storm.
This season, Tribue was a member of an offensive line that allowed a league-low six sacks, one more than the franchise record set in 2012 (5). As a result of his protection, the Soul's total offense was ranked No. 2 in the league with 4,923 yards and helped pave the way for Ross' record-setting season. Tribue is currently in training camp with the Dallas Cowboys.
Ross is joined on the First Team All-Arena by Arizona QB Nick Davila; Iowa WR Marco Thomas; Arizona WR Rod Windsor; Cleveland WR Dominick Goodman; Pittsburgh C Antonio Narcisse; San Jose OL Rich Raglin; Arizona OL Michael Huey; and San Jose K Nich Pertuit.
Joining Tribue on the Second Team is: Cleveland QB Shane Austin; San Antonio FB Mykel Benson; Orlando WR Greg Carr; Iowa WR Darius Reynolds; Los Angeles WR Donovan Morgan; Cleveland C Shannon Breen; Pittsburgh OL Colin Madison; and Pittsburgh K Julian Rauch.
