Rookie DB Kenny Okoro Joins the SaberCats

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose SaberCats announced today that they have been assigned rookie defensive back Kenny Okoro.

"We are really excited about the ball skills Kenny can bring to our team," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He has shown good instincts towards breaking up passes and grabbing timely interceptions."

Okoro (6-1, 190, Wake Forest) signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League after playing four years of college football for the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest.

As a senior in 2012, Okoro finished second on the team with two interceptions, and returned six kicks for 114 yards. As a junior, he started all 13 games for Wake Forest, finishing with 38 tackles (32 solo) along with nine pass break ups. During his sophomore season in 2011, Okoro appeared in 12 games, starting eight. He finished the year with 39 tackles (32 solo), in addition to two interceptions and a team leading five pass break ups. As a redshirt freshman in 2010, Okoro started the final eight games of the season, totaling 11 pass break ups and a team high of three interceptions. In 2009, he redshirted as a true freshman.
