HOFFMAN ESTATES-The Chicago Slaughter's fell behind by 28 points in the third quarter of its First Round Continental Indoor Football League playoff game Friday night and despite a fourth quarter rally, the Slaughter (8-5 overall, 0-1 playoffs) could not overcome the Rock River Raptors. The Raptors (8-5 overall, 1-0 playoffs) held on to a 54-39 win in front of 2,832 fans at the Sears Centre.

Raptors' quarterback Steven LaFalce threw three touchdowns and added three more on the ground to lead Rock River.

The teams exchanged touchdowns for the first series but Chicago could not answer the Raptors second score. At halftime the Slaughter trailed 24-13 and fell behind 38-19 in the third quarter. When Chicago's offense stalled, it brought on Chris Nenedick for a 33 yard field goal that was blocked and returned 43 yards by the Raptors' Randy Bell. Rockford answered on the next play with a touchdown from Steven LaFalce to Brandon Tobis.

Once the Slaughter fell behind, the game quickly got out of control and turned into a rout.
