Riveters Sign Theresa Knutson, Prolific Goal Scorer from UConn and the Frauen-Bundesliga

NJ/NY -ÃÂ In search of additional pop to their offense, the Metropolitan Riveters have made a major addition with the signing ofÃÂ Theresa Knutson, the former top goal scorer at UConn who has spent the last two years posting big numbers in Europe.
Over the last two seasons with EKU Mannheim and Kurpfalz of the Frauen-Bundesliga in Germany, the forward from Wisconsin scored a combined 73 goals.
"We were looking for a player who has the ability to put the puck in the back of the net and we found that in Theresa," said Riveters GM Kate Whitman Annis. "Theresa has one of the hardest shots in hockey and she has worked on her accuracy over the years at UConn and in Germany. Not only is her scoring ability a huge asset for our club, but her willingness to step in front of the puck and block shots shows the quality of team player she is. We are proud to welcome Theresa to the Riveters."
In her sophomore season at UConn, Knutson led the team with 19 goals and 28 points in 37 games. For her UConn career, the 5-6 forward was 51-28-79 in 135 games. Knutson finished her collegiate career as the third in goals and sixth in points in school history.
Before UConn, Knutson was the recipient of the Wisconsin Miss Hockey Award in 2014, led the state in scoring in each of her four years at Onalaska High School, and three times was named Wisconsin High School Offensive Player of the Year.
"I am truly honored to announce my signing with the Metropolitan Riveters," said Knutson, 24. "I would like to thank coach Ivo Mocek, general manager Kate Whitman Annis and the rest of the staff for this opportunity. I am excited to play my first season in the NWHL and be a part of growing women's professional hockey."
