BROOKLYN - The Metropolitan Riveters have re-signed a trio of key players for the 2020-21 NWHL season: defender Leila Kilduff, and forwards Cailey Hutchison and Mallory Rushton.

After being impressed by their skill, work ethic and commitment to the team, Riveters GM Kate Whitman Annis and head coach Ivo Mocek looked to quickly bring back all three players for their second years with the club.

From Truro, Nova Scotia, Rushton joined the Riveters after four seasons at RIT. In her rookie NWHL season, she had a goal and 12 assists for 13 points in 24 games. Hutchison was the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NWHL Draft out of Maine. The Long Island native was 3-8-11 in 24 games with the Riveters in 2019-20. Kilduff, who was raised in San Jose and played at Minnesota State from 2015-2019, scored 4 goals and had an assist in 22 games in her first NWHL season.

Here are Mocek's comments on each of the Riveters' signings:

"You won't find a harder-working player than Hutch. It says a lot about her that it was her first season in the league and our players picked her as one of the captains. Hutch's work ethic and attitude inspire players, and I know I can send her on the ice at any time and situation during the game. She was our most reliable penalty-killer.

"I can give Mal any role because she's so versatile. She also brings a lot of creativity. I believe next season will be her breakthrough year, now that's gotten used to the league and the pace.

"Leila was the most improved player on our team last season. She worked her way up the lineup to end up on the top D pair with Rebecca Morse. You could see her confidence growing with every game. She was very solid defensively and scored some big goals for us."
