Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders dropped their Sunday series finale to the Midland RockHounds at Riders Field, falling 7-4. Frisco right fielder Kellen Strahm homered for the second consecutive night, extending his on-base streak to 32 games and moving to third-longest in franchise history.
Designated hitter Trey Hair also recorded his second home run in as many games with a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning tallying 459 feet for his 15th of the year to lead all active Riders hitters.
Riders lefty starter Cody Bradford threw three scoreless innings to begin the pitching effort for Frisco, surrendering a pair of walks and striking out three.
The RoughRiders struck first in Sunday's loss with the second home run in as many nights for Strahm, who now has six this season, to take a 1-0 lead. Riders reliever Joe Corbett relieved Bradford in the top of the fourth with a scoreless inning on one hit.
Midland dropped seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to pave their way to a Sunday win, despite Frisco outhitting the RockHounds, nine hits to five. RockHounds second baseman Zack Gelof knocked the one-out grand slam to overcome a shallow 1-0 deficit and take the 7-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth.
Hair inched Frisco closer with his 15th home run of the year in the bottom of the fifth, which was followed by an RBI double from shortstop Jonathan Ornelas to inch Frisco closer, 7-3.
Riders first baseman Blaine Crim doubled in the bottom of the sixth and would come in on a sacrifice fly from Hair to move Sunday's score to 7-4.
Midland extended their lead in the top of the ninth on a solo home run with two outs to first baseman Kyle McCann for his fifth home run of the week, all in consecutive games.
The RoughRiders now meet the 2022 MLB All-Star Break for a four-day hiatus, and will play their next game on Friday, July 22nd against the Arkansas Travelers in North Little Rock.
Frisco returns home next to begin the month of August with a six-game series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles, beginning on August 2nd. For tickets and more information about the Frisco RoughRiders, visit RidersBaseball.com or call 972.731.9200.
