Battle Creek Revolution News Release
Revolution Rewind
The Revolution played five games in seven nights in the final week of the regular season in the All American Hockey League. The Revolution dropped four of those five games against the Chi-Town Shooters and West Michigan Blizzard. The Revolution never sported a full line up all week long except for the Saint Patrick's Day game against the Blizzard picking up their lone win of the week, 8-2.
Coach Bobby Clouston didn't want to show all of his cards against the Blizzard or the Shooters with the play offs just around the corner. With goaltender Matt Kinsella back from the 30 day Injured Reserve, the Revolution wanted to see if Matt had what takes to make the roster. The Revolution also rested Joe Pace, Rick Gadwa, Ky Moje, Joe Gerbe, Rob Schweyer, Matt Wagner, and a few other players through the week. On Sunday's game against the Shooters the Revolution had over 200 points sitting out of the line up.
The hockey club will have some tough choices to make with the playoff roster set at 20 players so Coach Clouston spent the week giving some bubble players a chance to earn a roster spot. The Revolution will have one of the strongest veteran lead teams during the playoffs with the likes of Mark Allen, Joe Gerbe, Chris Affinati, Rob Schweyer, and Joe Pace set to lead the charge for the Davidson Cup.
New Additions
The Revolution have added Mark Allen and Aric Lebda for the stretch drive for the playoff run. Aric comes from the Chicago Blaze over the last two seasons as a player that can hit and is stay at home D-Man. Mark is the former Revolution Coach and looks to be the final addition to the puzzle for the Revolutions' effort to bring the Davidson Cup to Battle Creek.
Bring on the Cowbells
The Battle Creek Revolution will begin the playoffs against the Evansville Icemen starting this Friday and Saturday night at Revolution Arena at 7:30pm both nights. Revolution History Stat of the Week
The Revolution played the Evansville Icemen in the 2008-2009 playoffs, sweeping them out of Revolution Arena last season. Can you name the losing goaltender in both games for the Icemen? That would be current Revolution goaltender Matt Wagner by almost leading the biggest surprise of the year stopping over 50 shots in a loss to the Revolution.
Brothers of the NHL
The Revolution has two players that have brothers that currently or were in the NHL for the 2009-2010 season. Aric Lebda and Joe Gerbe respectively have brothers that have played in the NHL. Bret Lebda with the Detroit Red Wings and Nathan Gerbe who has played with the Buffalo Sabres.
Revolution Free Video
Hockey fans that can't make the game can still watch the game live on StreamNet Sports this Friday night March 26th, for free for the remainder of the season. This is a great way for family members that can't make the game in person to watch. Fans can watch as Andy Jach and Barry Smith make the call of the game by going to www.streamnetsports.com.
