Battle Creek Revolution News Release


(Battle Creek, Mi) The Battle Creek Revolution, proud member of the All American Hockey League, announces the signings of two more players for the 2010-2011 seasons. The Revolution has come to agreements with defensemen Ryan Bond and forward Dan Kohanchuk for the upcoming season. Per club policy, details of the agreements will not be disclosed.

Kohanchuk will be entering his third professional season with the Revolution. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native began his playing career in juniors in the MJHL with the St. James Canadians and Winkler Flyers where he scored four goals and 16 assists in 96 games. Kohanchuk began his professional career in 2008-2009 after signing with the Evansville Icemen. Kohanchuk was traded to the Revolution later that season. During his rookie campaign, Kohanchuk played in 31 games where he netted 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists). Last season Kohanchuk scored 26 points (17 goals, 9 assists) in 43 games with the Revolution.

"I look forward to returning to Battle Creek to play for coach Clouston because he treats his players first class," stated, Dan Kohanchuk. "With the team leadership and determination of this organization we will settle for nothing less than a winning season and bringing the Davidson Cup to Battle Creek."

Returning for his second season with the Revolution, Bond will be using his speed to create havoc on the Revolution blue line. The Northville, Michigan native played one season in the juniors with the Traverse City North Stars in the NAHL where he scored two goals and two assists in 20 games. During his three seasons at Lindenwood University, Bond played in 75 games where he scored 45 points (9 goals, 36 assists). In his first professional season last year, Bond scored 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists) in 39 games.

"I enjoy playing for coach Clouston, he knows the game real well from being a very experienced player and also knows how to treat his players," stated Ryan Bond. "I look forward to going to battle every night for the great fans of Battle Creek and my hockey team to bring the Davidson Cup home."

Training camp opens on October 16th with players reporting for physicals. The Revolution will then hold two days of practice before their preseason schedule opens up with games against the Indiana Blizzard. The regular season begins on Friday October 22nd. The Revolution currently have six players under contract for the 2010-11 season; Chris Affinati, Rob Schweyer, Matt Kinsella, and Ryan Huggett in addition to Kohanchuk and Bond. The Revolution also have five players under training camp agreements from the AAHL Free Agent.
