POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 2 vs. Columbus Crew 2 0
Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay
On earning the victory vs. Columbus Crew 2:
Peay: "I thought the guys played incredibly brave with the ball, took care of it well, and I think that we were able to find some joy with breaking them down and eliminating their press, so that was positive, and very opportunistic on the first goal. I think as the game went on, we were defending a little bit more, but good defensively in a low block and transitioning out of that and we got the second goal. Great effort, great team effort. I thought everyone was disciplined in their roles and executed the job."
On the confidence a clean sheet gives Nico Campuzano:
Peay: "I think for everybody; a clean sheet. It's been a while, so very happy for him [Nico Campuzano]. I thought he played well. And again, the team's effort, I thought defensively they were very solid for the most part, a good team [Columbus Crew 2] that usually creates a lot of havoc they limited them to very little."
On Ben Awashie scoring his first professional goal:
Peay: "Ben [Awashie] was good today. Took care of the ball, worked really hard defensively, and great goal. Kind of the right place, right time. I think for him, it's just a matter of duplicating that and being consistent with performances like that."
On Gianluca Armellino's professional debut:
Peay: "We just thought in the role that we were asking of a player that he [Gianluca Armellino] was probably the guy that fit, so it was a good game for him to come into. He trains hard every day and I believe he's got the talent to be able to help us and he showed it today."
Revolution II Midfielder Ben Awashie
On scoring his first professional goal:
Awashie: "It's pretty amazing. It's my first goal of the season. I'm hoping to score more, but it is an awesome feeling to get onto the scoresheet."
On the confidence a clean sheet gives the team:
Awashie: "It's a confidence builder for us. We worked on that, because during the beginning of the season we gave up a lot of goals. Even though we were scoring goals, we gave up too many goals, so now we're working on keeping a clean sheet while trying to score goals and doing good at the end of the game."
Revolution Academy Forward Gianluca Armellino
On making his professional debut:
Armellino: "It was exciting. Got to fulfill a dream, and it's a big moment for me and my family."
On how the New England Revolution Academy has prepared him up to this point:
Armellino: "They [New England Revolution Academy] prepared me by, first of all, giving me a place to stay with our residency program, and all of the good training got me prepared for this moment."
On which Academy teammates helped him the most leading up to this moment:
Armellino: "Max Weinstein, Steban Lopera, Gabriel Chávez, all my roommates helped me along the way."
