Republic FC Defender Duke Lacroix Named to USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 9

Sacramento, Calif. - On Tuesday, the USL Championship announced Republic FC's Duke Lacroix was named to the league's Team of the Week for Week 9 for his performance in Sacramento's 1-0 victory over New York Red Bulls II.

Lacroix's defensive effort locked down the left side, supporting Sacramento's backline en route to the club's second consecutive clean sheet performance in the victory. He won five of seven one-on-one duels and took possession seven times. He led the team with 14 entries into the opponent's final third, helping the club press up top and eventually finish the match with all three points.

This is Lacroix's first Team of the Week selection of 2022, and his second as a member of Republic FC. He earned the honor as a member of Republic FC in Week 15 last season, also for his performance against New York. It is his seventh career selection to the league's top squad; earning the honor four times in 2019 with Reno 1868 FC and once with Charlotte Independence in 2020.

Republic FC is back in action this Wednesday when the club hosts Phoenix Rising FC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 at Heart Health Park. Kickoff for the contest is set for 7:30 p.m., and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Tickets are available at SacRepublicFC.com/single-match-tickets.
