Republic FC Adds Midfielder Arnold López to Midfield
January 24, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Today, Sacramento Republic FC announced the club has signed midfielder Arnold López ahead of the 2023 season. He will be added to the club's roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and ITC, and league & federation approval. Per club policy, the terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Arnold brings a strong pedigree to our midfield," said Republic FC General Manager Todd Dunivant. "We like his willingness and desire to get on the ball, and combined with his defensive instincts, we think he will be a strong addition to our team."
The 28-year-old San Felix native joins Republic FC after 11 professional seasons in Venezuela's first division Liga FUTVE. López most recently featured for Mineros de Guayana, logging nearly 2000 minutes across 24 matches starting in all fixtures during the 2022 season. Over the course of his career, Arnold has logged appearances in both of Latin America's biggest football tournaments - Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana - as well as Venezuela's domestic cup. Across all competitions, López has appeared 151 times and logged 9,994 minutes. In addition to featuring for his hometown Mineros, Arnold was loaned to first division clubs Metropolitanos, Aragua, and Monagas.
Republic FC's 10th USL Championship campaign will kick off on the road on Saturday, March 11, when the squad travels to Texas to take on El Paso Locomotive. The Indomitable Club will return to Sacramento on March 18 for the 2023 home opener at Heart Health Park, hosting Eastern Conference opponent Charleston Battery for the first time since 2014. The only way to secure tickets today and receive the commemorative 10th season scarf is to become a member. Learn more by calling (916) 307-6100 and visiting SacRepublicFC.com/Memberships.
In February, Republic FC will face off against MLS sides Chicago Fire FC and Real Salt Lake in Tucson, Arizona at the annual preseason Desert Showcase. Both matches will be open to the public and fans can purchase tickets online.
