Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - An overnight rainstorm has resulted in the cancellation of Saturday's games in the University of Antelope Valley's Varsity First Pitch. Constant rainfall throughout the week forced the cancellation of the 2011 Varsity First Pitch. The Lancaster JetHawks, City of Lancaster and University of Antelope Valley will attempt to accommodate participating teams by offering make-up dates to play at Clear Channel Stadium later this spring.
"We are extremely disappointed with this outcome," said JetHawks General Manager Larry Thornhill. "The combination of consistent rain and cool evening temperatures prevented the field from drying out. We are currently working with the City of Lancaster and the University of Antelope Valley to identify make-up dates so the participating teams can experience the thrill of playing in a professional ballpark."
While no make-up games have been announced yet, the games could begin as soon as next week. Off-days for the JetHawks in April and May are also possible dates for Varsity First Pitch make-up games.
For more information on make-up dates for the University of Antelope Valley's Varsity First Pitch, visit the JetHawks Web site at www.JetHawks.com.
Ticket packages for the upcoming 2011 season are currently available. To lock in your seats, call (661) 726-5400 or visit www.JetHawks.com.
