Record Viewing Audiences for Canada Soccer's Men's National Team FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifying Run

Canada Soccer's Men's National Team is catching fire with sports fans as it continues its impressive run toward qualification for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM.

Tuesday's match against Mexico was watched by more than 3.5 million viewers on dedicated soccer broadcaster OneSoccer, national cable sports channel Sportsnet and French-language sports channel RDS2.

Tuesday's average minute audience (AMA) was a combined 1.3 million across the three platforms, with a total of just over 3.5 million viewers tuning in for at least part of the game.

Canada defeated Mexico 2-1 in a cold and snowy Commonwealth Stadium that was dubbed #Iceteca for the match, a play on "Azteca" Stadium - the home of Mexico's National Team.

Cyle Larin, who plays for current Turkish Süper Lig champion BeÅŸiktaÅŸ, scored both goals for Canada, putting the Canadian men at the top of the standings in the Concacaf Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM Qualifying standings.

"Canadian soccer fans are sensing something special with this men's team. This is an unprecedented time as we are undoubtedly watching the most talented group of players the men's team has ever produced in Canada; a likeable, entertaining side that has a firm mission to qualify and represent this country at the greatest tournament in the world," said Kristian Jack, lead analyst for OneSoccer's production of the broadcasts.

Canada has six games remaining in the qualifying tournament. Play resumes January 27 with Canada travelling to Honduras. The Canadians will host the United States on January 30. All games are broadcast live on OneSoccer, Sportsnet and RDS.

OneSoccer is available as a linear channel on Telus Optik TV (Ch. 980) - one of Canada's 'big three' pay-TV platforms - as well as through the fuboTV Canada streaming platform and the OneSoccer app, while Sportsnet is carried nationally across all major pay-TV platforms and the RDS channels are available both in Quebec and nationally.
