
Rebels Use 5th Tender on Kyle Smolen

Jamestown, New York - We are pleased to announce that we have used our fifth Tender of the season on Forward Kyle Smolen, effective 2019-2020. Smolen is 16-years-old and is committed to Arizona State University.
Last season Kyle played in nine games for the Chicago Young Americans U16 (HPHL) picking up seven assists. Over the past two seasons Kyle has played for his local high school hockey team, District 155 (USHL-IL), combining for 24 games played (11g-9a). He is currently playing for the Chicago Mission U16 (HPHL). Already this season Kyle has played 20 games for them recording ten assists and totaling 15 points.
The 5'11", 165lb right-handed shooter had this to say about his tender signing with the Rebels, "I am really excited to have the opportunity to partake in such an elite program that truly will develop me into an elite player." Smolen went on to add, "I'm excited to start a new chapter with a new and great group of guys."
Billy Pugliese, the Director of Scouting for the Rebels had this to say about the future Rebel player, "Kyle is a young player with good hockey IQ. He goes to high traffic areas and does many of the little things we expect from our players." Billy also stated, "I'm looking forward to seeing his development." We look forward to seeing Kyle dawn the red, white, and blue next season!
