Rebels Tender Forward Austin Lamotte

April 23, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) - Jamestown Rebels News Release

Jamestown, NY - The Jamestown Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have announced the signing of forward Austin Lamotte to a 2020-21 tender agreement.

"We are super excited to have Austin as part of our team moving forward," said Rebels Head Coach/General Manager Joe Coombs. "We will get some core guys back from last season which gives us a lot to build off. We feel he will be an integral part."

Lamotte, a 19-year-old native of Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, completed a monster 2019-20 campaign with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), where he registered 51 points (19 goals, 32 assists) along with 112 PIM in 54 regular season games on his way to being named to the MJHL's 2019-20 All-Rookie Team.

Coombs loves what he sees from Lamotte's game, comparing his style of play to that of NHL regulars such as Brendan Gallagher of the Montreal Canadiens, and Andrew Shaw of the Chicago Blackhawks.

"Austin brings a dynamic that's a bit of a throwback," continued Coombs. "He has the ability to score and produce offensively, but at the same time competes hard and has a willingness to win battles all over the ice."

The 5'8, 161-pound right shot forward began his junior career during the 2018-19 season, where he suited up in five games with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), putting up a goal and three assists. Prior to junior hockey, Lamotte tore up the stat sheet in Midget, scoring at a point-per-game clip over the course of two combined seasons with the Prince Albert Minots of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, registering 84 points (26 goals, 58 assists) and 198 PIM in 84 regular season games. He also put up a point-per-game in the post-season with Prince Albert, compiling 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in 16 playoff contests.

With junior experience in his back pocket, and statistics to go along with it, Lamotte is looking forward to joining the Rebels.

"I heard great things about the coaching staff and the organization," said Lamotte. "It looks like they are putting together a championship team, and I would like to be a part of that team in any way I can. I'm extremely excited for what the upcoming season holds."
