Real Monarchs News Release
HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC (12-3-1, 37 points, 1 West) return to United Soccer League action on Tuesday, July 3rd when it travels to Western Conference rival Reno 1868 FC at 8:30 p.m. MT. The match will be the first meeting between the clubs in 2018 as Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave aims to lead his side to a third consecutive victory.
In 2017, the Monarchs faced Reno 1868 FC on three occasions, claiming three victories after outscoring the Silver State Club by a 10-4 margin. Most notably the Monarchs claimed a 3-0 victory in Reno in late-September that all but assured the club would claim the USL Regular-Season Championship shield the following week. FWs Chandler Hoffman and Juan Ignacio Mare each notched goals in that match before former midfielder Daniel Haber solidified the convincing victory.
The USL league-leaders are coming off a gritty 1-0 victory over Fresno FC on June 26, a match that saw DF Andrew Brody become the 12th player to record a goal for the Monarchs in 2018. The match also saw the club claim its eighth shutout of the season as GK Connor Sparrow easily earned the clean sheet while not having to generate a save against the Foxes. Additionally, MF Jack Blake made his Real Monarchs debut, coming on as a second half substitute and nearly notching a goal in his debut.
