Rawhide Announce 2010 Schedule
September 9, 2009 - California League (CalL1)
Visalia Rawhide News Release
VISALIA-After a record-breaking attendance year in 2009, the Visalia Rawhide are excited to announce their 2010 season schedule today.
For the first time in several years, Visalia will open a season at home, as the Rawhide face Stockton on April 8th. The 140-game schedule (70 home games) includes multiple dates with the Ports and traditional rivals San Jose, Modesto, and Bakersfield. The California League's five Southern Division clubs will also make one visit each to Recreation Ballpark.
The Rawhide will remain an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the fourth consecutive season, as all ten teams in the league retain their affiliations for 2010. The entire National and American League West will be represented, and the Houston Astros will remain in Lancaster.
Visalia has reasons for optimism in 2010; two lower-level Diamondbacks affiliates, South Bend and Missoula, have qualified for their respective league playoffs this season with players who will likely see time in Visalia next year.
Additionally, Arizona's armada of high-round picks in this year's draft (seven in the first two rounds), along with the Diamondbacks' ability to sign their first 29 overall picks this year (an unprecedented success rate in this modern, holdout-prone era) ensures that a large influx of new talent will make its way through the system over the next few years.
With a newly renovated ballpark that has drawn rave reviews from multiple 3rd -party ballpark reviewers, the Rawhide are excited to begin gearing up for another season of baseball and community involvement. April can't come soon enough.
