Vancouver Ravens News Release
VANCOUVER (Thursday, October 23, 2003) - The Vancouver Ravens Lacrosse Club is poised to select two highly touted prospects in the first round of the National Lacrosse League 2003 Entry Draft, Saturday, October 25th, at the Westin Hotel in Toronto.
Vancouver owns the rights to the first draft choice overall, along with No. 4 in the first round and No. 14 and No. 22 in the second round.
"We believe it's a strong first round of entry draft talent and we're convinced that both of our first round selections will become a part of our core line up for the 2003-2004 NLL season," said Dave Evans, General Manager of the Vancouver Ravens. "There's some terrific talent available, particularly among the top five or six choices, so we think it will be an exciting day for our organization and all of our fans from throughout British Columbia."
Vancouver picks first overall, courtesy of a deal orchestrated by Evans and Paul Dal Monte, Vancouver's Head Coach and Director of Lacrosse Operations, at the 2001 Entry Draft. Vancouver gained the pick from the Anaheim Storm (formerly New Jersey). They then pick fourth overall based on their sixth place finish in the NLL in 2002-2003, the second time in their first two seasons that the Ravens made the playoffs.
Vancouver is coming off a 9-7 record in 2002-2003 and 10-6 in its inaugural year in 2001-2002.
