Rattlers Claim Top Spot in Week 8 vPower Rankings

CHICAGO - The Arizona Rattlers (6-1) have claimed the top spot in the latest Arena Football vPower Rankings, as tabulated on AFLFieldPass.com, following a 58-48 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks (6-1) in Week 7.
The Rattlers handed the Sharks their first loss of the season, dropping Jacksonville down to the second spot in the Week 8 rankings. Arizona will look to bring their winning streak to four in a row this week, as they host the Utah Blaze (3-3) at 9:00 p.m. ET this Saturday, May 11, in a rematch of the 2012 National Conference championship game. The Sharks, meanwhile, will try to get back in the win column in front of a national audience when they travel to San Antonio for a matchup with the Talons (2-4) in "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" on CBS Sports Network. Kickoff for that game is set for 9:30 p.m. ET.
The Tampa Bay Storm (5-2) move up two spots to No. 3 in this week's vPower Rankings, following a 63-32 win over the New Orleans VooDoo (1-5) in Week 7. The Storm may be challenged a bit more in Week 8 when they travel to the HP Pavilion to meet up with the No. 4-ranked San Jose SaberCats (4-2). The Storm are 3-0 on the road this season and riding a three-game winning streak, while the SaberCats are undefeated since adding quarterback Russ Michna two weeks ago. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday, May 10.
Despite starting the season 5-0, the Spokane Shock (5-2) have dropped two in a row, falling to No. 5 in this week's vPower Rankings as a result. The team will look to recover from a 48-52 loss to the Utah Blaze in Week 7 by returning home to face the Orlando Predators (1-5). The Predators picked up their first win of the season last week. Kickoff is set for 10:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 5.
