
Randy "White Chocolate" Gill Named PBL Player of the Week

Chicago, IL...Detroit Panthers guard Randy "White Chocolate" Gill was named PBL Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Gill, a 6-2 guard from Bowie State University, received Player of the Week honors as he averaged 27.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 4.5 apg and 2.0 spg while shooting 48.5% from the field in two games this week.
"This is a great honor to receive," said Gill. "The PBL ranks at the top as far as being one of the most competitive leagues that I've played in. This league has many talented players and I just want to thank my teammates and coaches for this award."
Gill led the Panthers to a 1-1 week which included a 118-103 win over the Mid-Michigan Destroyers, a game in which he scored 20 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Gill finished with 35 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in Detroit's game against Battle Creek.
"It is a pleasure to have Randy on our team," said Panthers Head Coach Bill Jones. "Randy is a very competitive player and works and plays hard every second on the court. We have been looking for a player of his caliber for a long time and we have been very pleased with him."
Gill is currently averaging 21.0 ppg, good for fourth in the league, and ranks fourth in assists at 5.2 per game. Gill is also the only player in the PBL that is averaging over 20 ppg and at least 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game.
After being selected with the top pick in the Montreal Dispersal Draft, Gill has been averaging 22.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 6.0 apg and 1.4 spg during his time in Detroit.
"Randy has brought the energy and fire our organization needed," said Panthers Owner Kevin A. Carter. "Since his acquisition he has proven to be a leader on the floor as a point guard. We look forward to having him with us for the rest of the season, during the off season, and next season."
Other nominee's included Keith Friel of the Rochester RazorSharks, Donielle Davis of the Augusta Groove, Rashi Johnson of the Battle Creek Knights, Willie Mitchell of the Chicago Throwbacks and Alex Harper of the Wilmington Sea Dawgs.
