Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Schaumburg, IL- The Schaumburg Flyers lost a disappointing game three to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks with a final score of 11-3. The game was called on account of rain with two outs in the top of the ninth inning.

Flyers pitcher Dan Frega pitched a terrific game through seven innings, striking out three and allowing only one earned run. His return in the eighth marked his downfall. Frega allowed his first two batters to get on base and then gave up a three-run homer to RedHawks catcher Alan Rick. The home run gave the RedHawks a 4-3 lead, and the Flyers never recovered the lead.

The Flyers proceeded to give up seven more runs among pitchers Chris Saenz, Walt Novosel and David Byard in the eighth inning. A rain delay postponed the game in the ninth inning, eventually leading the umpires to call the game. RedHawks reliever Kevin Tomasiewicz received the win and Frega the loss.

Flyers designated hitter Peanut Williams continued his hot streak, going 2 for 3 with a single and a triple, his fourth and fifth hits of the young season.

The Flyers will take on the RedHawks in the fourth game of the opening series tomorrow at 1:20 at Alexian Field. LHP (0-0) Adam Rowe of the RedHawks will take on RHP Steve Shippey (0-0) of the Flyers. Magnet Schedules presented by National City will be given out at the gates as well as Desk Clocks sponsored by Hemmens Cultural Center.

The Schaumburg Flyers are a member of the Northern League, a 6-team Independent Professional Baseball League established in 1993. Opening Day is May 15th, 2008. For ticket information call (847) 891-BALL (2255) or visit www.flyersbaseball.com
