As Rochester New York Football Club was looking for talent to build the foundation for the side's return to the field in 2022, Sporting Director Lee Tucker and Head Coach Bruno Baltazar met such a person in Paulo Soares.

Look no further than the Quinnipiac star's introductory quote to the club's supporters where Soares said:

I can't wait to be there, hit the ground and start working to achieve good things, success, and bring joy to the city of Rochester, the fans and the lovely community."

Dr. Tucker is impressed by Soares the person and believes that his personality and maturity will help him successfully transition from the collegiate ranks into the professional game.

"There is so much positivity around Paulo. He is an extremely mature person and player who I am sure will take the transition from college to professional football in his stride."

On the field, the Bobcats star center midfielder was named to the mid-major NCAA All-MAAC team twice. The Cape Verde native attended high school in Boston before matriculating to enroll in college in Connecticut. Baltazar is looking forward to the technical skill and intelligence that he sees Soares bringing into central midfield.

"We are signing a complete and talented center midfielder in Paulo. He can provide high quality to the team in all the moments of the game. He is a technical, dynamic and intelligent young player."

Rochester New York Football Club has signed Center Midfielder Paulo Soares to an MLS NEXT Pro PROFESSIONAL contract, pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval, in addition to his ITC and work authorization. Financial terms were not disclosed.
