
Quest Re-Signs 2002 USPV MVP Roberts And All-USPV Selection Butler

ST.LOUIS, MO., November 13, 2002_The St. Louis Quest, a member of United States Professional Volleyball, today announced the re-signing of 2002 USPV Most Valuable Player Benishe Roberts and 2002 All-USPV selection Sarah Butler-Carthel.
The two transactions complete the Quest's 12-athlete roster for the upcoming 2003 season.
Roberts (Tacoma, Wash., Long Beach State), a former member of the U.S. Women's National Volleyball team, ranked in the top 10 in every USPV individual statistical category in 2002.
Roberts, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker, led the league in scoring (4.8 ppg), blocks (1.1 bpg), hitting efficiency (.390) and serving efficiency (+5). She also holds or shares three USPV individual match records.
Roberts was named the league's player of the month for both March and April and was tabbed player of the week on three separate occasions.
St. Louis now features four athletes from the 1998 Long Beach State undefeated NCAA national championship team. Middle blocker Brandy Barratt, opposite hitter Veronica Walls and setter Keri Nishimoto were also teammates of Roberts at LBS.
The team also announced the re-signing of outside hitter Sarah Butler-Carthel (Amarillo, Texas, West Texas A&M). Butler, an All-USPV selection, ranked fourth in the league a year ago in scoring (3.5 ppg) and kills per game (3.0 kpg). Butler is also a former member of the U.S. Women's National Team.
The Quest begins training camp on Thursday, December 12.
