Queen City Storm News Release

Sharonville, OH - The Queen City Storm announced today that the Storm have hired 2010 Davidson Cup Championship coach Jack Collins as their first Head Coach for the 2010-11 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed due to league and team mandates.

Collins, a Dayton, Ohio, native, was the head coach of the 2010 AAHL Davidson Cup Champion winning Evansville Icemen.

"In our inaugural season in the All American Hockey League, we felt we needed a coach with a knack for winning to make our team a championship contending team," said Storm General Manager Nick Poe.

During his season in Evansville, Collins held the position head coach and director of hockey operations. During his tenure there Collins saw seven players called up to "AA" leagues such as the IHL, ECHL and CHL.

With a record of 20-23-3 the Evansville Icemen ended the 2009-2010 regular season in third place and went on to play the Battle Creek Revolution in round one of the Davidson Cup Playoffs. Defeating the Revolution 3-1, the Icemen went on to play the West Michigan Blizzard in a best of seven series won by the Icemen and Jack Collins at home 4-1.

Before becoming the Head Coach for Evansville, Jack was the Assistant coach for the Dayton Bombers in the ECHL during the 2008-2009 campaign where the club finished with a 32-33-4-3 record just shy of making the playoffs. Leading up to the 2008-2009 season Jack was an off-ice coach with the team for ten years.

"When I learned there was a team coming to the Cincinnati area I was excited to not only get back into league but to also coach in my home state again" said Jack Collins. "I can't wait to get started and really get things off the ground with the new team."
