Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release

BOARDMAN, OH. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder is pleased to announce, in conjunction with the arenafootball2 League Office that Quarterback Rick Webster, (6'4, 220), has been assigned to the 2009 roster. Webster enters his rookie season in the af2.

In 31 games at Hanover College (Hanover, IN), Webster completed 410 of 713 passes for 4,549 yards and 43 touchdowns through the air. The former Panther added another 174 yards by way of the ground, and was twice named to the All-HCAC (Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) team.

In 2005 Webster was at his best, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns on his way to being named First Team All-HCAC. Following the 2006 campaign, Webster was awarded the Hanover College Raymond Struck Mental Attitude Award. Webster spent his first two seasons at Hanover learning the position behind starter Brett Dietz, a former af2 and AFL Rookie of the Year.

THUNDER HEAD COACH MIKE HOLD SAYS:

"Rick has great size for the Quarterback position and has shown the ability to make all the throws. He's going to have an adjustment moving to the indoor game but he's athletic enough to where he should be able to make a smooth transition."
